What recommendations are
Recommendations are the listings XLIST highlights to you outside of a direct search — for example on the home feed, or in a "related listings" section on a listing page. They're meant to surface relevant, active, and well-maintained listings without you having to search for them directly.
What you see and why
What you see is shaped by things like your recent activity on XLIST (such as listings you've viewed or favourited), your location, and which listings are currently active and complete. Recommendations are not paid placements — providers cannot pay to appear in recommended sections.
How listings are recommended
At a general level, XLIST favours listings that are:
- Relevant to what you've been browsing or the category you're viewing
- Nearby, based on your location or the area you're searching in
- Available, with up-to-date availability and accurate rates
- Complete, with clear photos and full details filled in
- Active, meaning the provider has updated the listing recently
No single factor decides what you see — it's a combination of relevance, location, availability, completeness, and recent activity.
Improving your listing's visibility
If you're a provider, the most reliable way to improve how often your listing is recommended is to keep it complete and current: accurate rates, up-to-date availability, clear photos, and a listing that has been reviewed or updated recently. There's no separate "boost" purchase required for a listing to be eligible for recommendations.
